If you are currently applying for employment, and are looking for ideas on how to make a resume for free, you have come to the right page.  With the job market and economy the way it currently is, a solid and well written resume is essential.  When writing a resume, we need to understand exactly what it is that employers, recruiters, and hiring manager are looking for.

When formatting your resume, the top of your resume should include your name, phone number, city state, and email address.  It is amazing to find resumes online without any contact information.  Make sure that your contact information is also kept current and accurate.  Nothing is more annoying to a hiring manager to call a resume with a wrong or disconnected phone number.

The next part of your resume should include your Objective. This should be brief - one to two sentences - indicating what you plan to accomplish with applying for this current position. This is a good way to start out and learn how to make a resume for free. After your objective, you are going to go right into your Work Experience. Starting with your most recent job, include these 3 pieces of information.

Company Name

Job Title

Dates Employed

Below this, you are going to include your job description. Use bullet points if you can and try to list all of your job duties, relating it to the job you are applying for. Always include your primary responsibilities on top and your secondary ones underneath.

You are going to repeat this for each of your jobs that you had.

Under your work experience, you are going to include your skills. This can be relevant to the job you are applying for. As an example, if you are applying for an administrative assistant, clerical, or secretary position, you can include that you are skilled in MS Office, typing 50 wpm, and have strong communication skills. Taylor your skills on your resume to the job as best as you can.

At the bottom, you are going to include your Education along with any degrees you may have obtained. Include the college you graduated from and the degree you received. If you have not gone to college, include your high school name along with your completion date. If you went to a trade school or technical school of any kind, be sure to include this on your resume as part of your education.

As far as font size is concerned, try to use a standard font such as Times New Roman or Arial.  Use a standard font size such as 10 to 12 point font.  Keep the resume in black text.  You can bold key parts on your resume including Work experience, name of employer, job title, and dates employed.  It is optional, but you may underline or put the items in italics.

For your job descriptions, you can leave this in regular font, and choose to either list your job duties or come up with bullet points.  Depending on how much experience you have, some experts recommend you keep your resume to a certain length, such as one or two pages.  This depends on your work experience, and the type of position you are applying for.  Try to be as detailed as possible, without being too wordy.

This is the easiest way to make a resume for free. With a strong resume, one that is properly formatted and planned out, you will be on your way to receiving job interviews.

How to do a Resume for a Job

Learn the steps for how to do a resume for a job.

If you are currently unemployed or currently looking for new employment, learning how to do a resume for a job can be very important. In today’s economy and job market, landing that dream job you have been looking for can require appropriate and precise resume writing and creation. Within this article, we are going to go over some of the key aspects of resume writing, what should be included, along with how everything should be organized.

The top part of your resume should include all of your relevant contact information. This includes your name, location, email address, and phone number. It is surprising how many people apply for jobs and forget to include their primary contact information.

The next part of your resume should include your objective. This should be a brief, one sentence statement, of what you wish to achieve or accomplish. Your objective should be relevant to the position you are applying for. For example , if you are applying for a sales job, your object could be: “To obtain a sales management position where my previous retail sales experience can be effectively utilized.” IF you are applying for a bartending position, it can be: “To obtain a bartender position utilizing my previous mixology and restaurant experience.” Always make sure your objective is related to the job you are seeking.

The next part of your resume should be all of your work experience. Below are good examples of how to do a resume for a job. Include these pieces of information:

Company

Job Title

Dares of employment.

As an example:

Master Sales Company

Retail Sales Manager - Business Development

January 2008 - January 2012

Below this, you are going to include a few key bullet points of what your responsibilities were. This could be 4 - 10 sentences, depending on how much responsibility you had at your last position, and how much detail you wish to go into. The higher the position, the more detail and specific you will like to make your resume.

You should include all of your work experience. This can go back to 3-5 jobs, or more, depending on how much experience you have. Be sure to minimize any employment gaps you may have. If you were out of work for a certain period of time, indicate this on the resume along with what you did during this time period. This could be as simple as going back to college to further your education, or took a class in sales and networking to further your skills while the job market has been slow. IN any event, employers look for employment gaps in a resume, and a large gap could unknowingly show that you do not have job stability.

Upon including all of your work experience, you are going to include all of your skills at the bottom of your resume. Relate these to the job you are applying for. These could be sales skills, customer service, computer skills including MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, multi-tasking skills, administrative skills, etc…

Lastly, you are going to include your education. Include the highest level of education you attended, whether this be college, a trade school, or high school. Indicate the degree you obtained such as a bachelor’s degree, associates’ degree, or technical degree. For a business resume, a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management would relate to the job you are applying for.

As far as how to do a resume for a job, always ensure your resume matches the job description for what you are applying for. If a job description is asking for Excel experience and you have this experience, ensure you place this on your resume. If a job is asking for specific sales experience, be sure to include in detail what you did along with examples that match the job description you are applying for.   With a relevant and well-prepared resume, you will be on your way to obtaining your next dream job.
